Martha Stewart and Our Pets!

Martha Stewart is taking on Pet Care thanks to Petsmart!
And why not treat our pets to the Posh lifestyle thanks to Martha?

Did you know it's important to slow down your dog's food intake? This is true especially for giant, barrel-chested breeds. Eating too fast can lead to choking, obesity, or canine bloat .

  • Create a regular feeding schedule of two to three small meals a day.
  • Put food in a slow feeder. The staggered shapes decrease the amount your dog can ingest at a time.
  • Always review any new feeding regimen with your veterinarian.
Canine bloat (gastric torsion):
A serious and sometimes fatal intestinal condition that may occur when dogs eat or drink too much too quickly. Symptoms include:

  • abdominal distension
  • excessive salivation
  • dry heaving
  • restlessness
  • increased heart rate

To prevent bloat, slow down your dog's eating and make sure he remains inactive immediately afterwards. If you think he may be suffering from bloat, take him to the vet as soon as possible. His life could depend on it!

Only Martha would think of this.
