Now that I have a giant kitchen, I have decided to try to cook more. My problem before was that my kitchen was too small to move in, let alone cook in and really experiment with new recipes. So now I have room to move and I have a whole island to prepare on.
So when Bindu Grandhi contacted me and asked if I wanted to check out her new cookbook “Spice Up Your Life: The Flexitarian Way” I was excited. Now my first question was “What the heck is Flexitarian?” Well, according to WikiPedia “Flexitarianism is a semi-vegetarian diet focusing on vegetarian food with occasional meat consumption.” There is no rule over how much meat you can or cannot eat, other than you try to cut back on meat and incorporate more spices and vegetables into your diet.
Bindu Grandhi developed her passion for flavorful flexitarian cooking in her early 20’s. Bindu learned about good health and nutrition from her mother, Vasantha Prasad, author of “Indian Vegatarian Cooking from an American Kitchen” and her father, Balasa L. Prasad, a physician and author of “Stop Overeating For Good.” She believes in eating tasty and satisfying nutritional meals is what the mind and body craves.
Throughout Spice Up Your Life, Bindu features page after page of healthy and low fat recipes all full of savory herbs and spices. The recipes focus on grains, fruit, vegetables, seafood, and poultry. The beginning of the cookbook includes tips, tools, and techniques for mastering her recipes. The thing I did love about her recipes though were that they are not complicated nor do they contain crazy ingredients that you have no idea what they are! I also love how the cookbook is broken into easy to navigate sections including Side Dishes, Appetizers, Breads, Seafood, Chicken, and more!

So if you are looking for a new and interesting cookbook, I highly recommend checking out "Spice Up Your Life," as I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed something different! I also love how on the website is a quote from Emeril Lagasse saying how great of a book it is!
